Brief description of program with Photographs:

An Expert Session was organized by E&TC department on 23rd May 2023 at 2 p.m. on “EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE”. The guest speaker was Mrs. Manisha Gondhale, who is an Master Trainer, Leadership Coach, Author and Motivational Speaker of S.Brainiac Learning Mrs. Manisha Gondhale addressed the students on various aspects on Emotional Intelligence. She said that IQ is limited by birth, but EQ i.e. Emotional intelligence is learned. Today, Emotional intelligence is an important factor for hiring and managing employees. She helped students to understand different types of positive (joy, appreciation, adoration, pride, excitement ...etc.) and negative emotions (frustration, fear, Contempt…. etc.) with the help of few stories and videos.

She also explained that Emotional Intelligence can be gained by understanding self (self-awareness & self-management) or personal skills and understanding others (social awareness & behaviour) or social skills. According to mam, Empathy is one of the important aspects of emotional intelligence. Empathy means responding compassionately to another, it helps in influencing behavior of others. A person with low EQ will behave in aggressive, demanding and bossy manner and will always be resisting to change whereas a person with high EQ will be having assertive, ambitious and strong-willed nature.

In order to have high EQ, it is important to be assertive rather than aggressive, proactive and good listener. One should also be able to control negative emotions, handle criticism, manage stress and remain calm. She said that one should choose people wisely as the people around a person influence him the most. It is very important to embrace change and give one’s 100% in every situation for maintaining high level of Emotional Intelligence.

The student of SE E&TC were also given a chance to measure their Emotional Intelligence using a self-evaluative questionnaire to understand their level of emotional intelligence and how they can regulate and channelize different emotions in an effective way. The speaker also highlighted the importance of EQ for a leader and how different Leadership Styles can be adopted in different situations.

Speaker made the session interactive and interesting by asking the students to self-assess by providing some questions to check their Emotional Intelligence. Students were able to know themselves better and were even provided with plenty of solutions to strike a right balance of emotions. Mrs. Manisha Gondhale covered every aspect of the topic by discussing about emotional literacy, feelings wheel, amygdala etc. This session helped the students to understand their emotions and develop a new response to negative feelings like sadness, anger etc. After the session students were able to differentiate between low and high self-esteem. In addition to this student gained various ways to take the charge of their emotions.

The session was further enlightened by the interesting questions answer session in which many attendees asked their questions regarding different types of emotions. Perhaps, resource persons addressed all questions during this session.

The session was very engaging and interactive, and included various video clips, real life examples, and activities to identify, develop and focus on EQ in our day to day lives.

The students were encouraged to share their experiences and other instances where they observed emotional intelligence being displayed and how it affected the situation. The students enthusiastically participated and discussed their personal experiences at work, college and other circumstances. A very interesting activity was also carried out wherein a few students shared a story that was emotionally important to them while the others had to carefully observe and interpret various verbal and non-verbal signals including – facial expressions, body language and speech. This activity made the students more aware and attentive towards such subtle cues while interacting with people on a day to day basis, and develop an understanding of others’ emotions as well.

It was a very exciting, informative and motivating session for the students.

At the end the session was concluded with vote of thanks given by Prof. M. G. Chinchole. The session was well organized by all student’s coordinators and coordinated by faculty coordinator Prof. Mahesh G. Chinchole.

Outcome:

The Participants gained knowledge on

  • Basic steps to be followed for getting high IQ.
  • Basic steps to be followed for getting high EQ.
  • Identify, Develop and Focus on EQ

INDUSTRIAL VISIT AT GMRT KHODAD

INDUSTRIAL VISIT AT GMRT KHODAD

Program Type: Industrial Visit
Program title: Industrial Visit at GMRT Khodad
Date/s and Timing of the event: 1st March 2023 from 7.00 am to 6.00 pm
Venue: Giant Meterwave Radio Telescope, Post Box 6, Naryangoan, Tal - Junnar,
Dist: Pune. PIN : 410 504
Name of the Organizer: Prof. Sushma Bhosle, Prof. Sarika B Patil, and Prof. M. G. Chinchole
Participants details with count: 50
Brief description of program with Photographs:

Industrial Visits have always played an essential role in helping students to think outside the walls of their academic curriculum and gain knowledge about real life applications regarding their field of study.

Department of Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering organized One Day Industrial Visit to “Giant Metrewave Radio Telescope (GMRT)” on 1st March, 2023, Narayangaon, Maharashtra, India.

Astronomers from all over the world regularly use this telescope to observe many different astronomical objects such as HII regions, galaxies, pulsars, supernovae and Sun and solar winds.

February 28th is celebrated as National Science Day all over the country, commemorating the discovery of the Raman Effect by C.V. Raman, for which he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1930.

Each year, Science Day is celebrated at the Giant Metrewave Radio Telescope (GMRT) observatory at Khodad by organizing the Grand Science Exhibition at GMRT on 28th Feb and 1st March of every year. The GMRT, which is the world's most powerful telescope operating at low radio frequencies, was built and is being operated by the National Centre for Radio Astrophysics (NCRA) of the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR). Although the prime activity at NCRA and GMRT is to carry out frontline research in radio astronomy and astrophysics, and develop state-of-the-art instrumentation for this purpose, NCRA and GMRT observatory also have programs to popularize science and technology among the general public, especially the student community.

The program consists of a grand Science Exhibition, where students from the schools and colleges exhibit their science projects.

The main objective of this visit was that, as a part of the Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering, the students need to know practical fundamentals, implementation, functionality, and mechanism of antennas as also to get the knowledge of the Radio Telescope, different components involved, hardware software co-design, etc. The site for GMRT, about 10 km east of Narayangaon town on the Pune-Nasik highway, was selected after an extensive search in many parts of India, considering criteria such as low man-made radio noise, availability of good communication, vicinity of industrial, educational and other infrastructure and, a geographical latitude sufficiently north of the geomagnetic equator in order to have a reasonably quiet ionosphere and yet be able to observe a good part of the southern sky as well.

The Industrial visit was carried out for SE and TE Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering Students. Prof. Sushma Bhosle, Prof. Sarika B Patil, and Prof. Mahesh G. Chinchole along with 50 students visited GMRT. The GMRT has a total of 30 telescopes spread over a range of 25 km, in order to collect data from different locations and combine them to generate images. A miniature model of all the GMRT telescopes was shown to the students at the beginning. It was great to know that GMRT consists of 30 fully steerable gigantic parabolic dishes of 45m diameter each spread over distances of up to 25 km. After introduction all students were shown the big antenna and were told about how it works and were guided about its various functionalities. The metre wavelength part of the radio spectrum has been particularly chosen for study with GMRT because man-made radio interference is considerably lower in this part of the spectrum in India. Fourteen of the thirty dishes are located more or less randomly in a compact central array in a region of about 1 sq. km. The remaining sixteen dishes are spread out along the 3 arms of an approximately ‘Y'- shaped configuration over a much larger region, with the longest interferometric baseline of about 25 km.

The GMRT is the largest radio telescope in the whole world and hence has great appeal in astrophysics research. The visit concluded with an interactive session for the students, where they got an opportunity to interact with the concerned authorities and gain more knowledge. It was a great learning experience for one and all.
